Frequently asked questions
What is musicpromo.bid?
musicpromo.bid is a public pay-to-rank music promotion chart. Artists and labels bid real money for chart position: rank equals total promotional spend, nothing else. Every dollar, rank, and click count is public, which makes it the most transparent form of paid music promotion.
Is musicpromo.bid the outbid.lol for music?
Yes. musicpromo.bid applies the outbid.lol pay-to-rank leaderboard model to music promotion, adding music-specific boards (Music Videos, New Releases, Catalog), genre rankings, rich previews pulled from Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube, and public click counts on every listing.
How much does it cost to promote a song?
The minimum bid is $5, which puts your track on the chart immediately. Your position is set by your total bid: taking #1 requires bidding at least $5 above the current leader, and passing any other listing requires at least $1 above it.
How do I take the #1 spot?
Bid at least $5 more than the current leader's total. The homepage always shows the live price to claim #1. You hold the spot until someone outbids you - there is no time limit and positions never expire.
What happens when someone outbids me?
You get an email immediately with a one-click link to raise your bid. Raising costs only the difference between your current total and your new total, so reclaiming a spot is cheaper than starting over.
What music links can I submit?
Spotify tracks, albums, and artist pages; Apple Music songs, albums, and artists; and YouTube music videos. Link shorteners, chat or invite links, and NSFW content are not allowed. Artwork, title, and artist are pulled automatically from the platform.
How do I know the promotion worked?
Every listing publicly counts its outbound clicks - the click-throughs its chart placement delivered. Known crawler and bot traffic is excluded from the count, so the number reflects real people clicking through to your music.
Are payments refundable?
No. All payments are final and non-refundable. You are buying placement time on a live public board, not a deposit, and being outbid does not entitle you to a refund. The only exception is a removal we initiate for reasons other than rule violations.
Can fans boost an artist's track?
Yes - anyone can boost any listing. Every dollar a fan pays raises the track's total bid and moves it up the chart, and the position always stays with the track. Fans who boost can leave a name that appears on the track's public Top Supporters list, and tracks backed by three or more different people earn a Fan-backed mark.
How do promo codes work?
A promo code carries a dollar credit that funds a bid exactly like cash. If the credit covers your whole bid, your track goes live instantly with no payment step; if you bid more, you pay only the difference. Codes are single-use and may carry an expiry date.
Is a pay-to-rank chart legal? Isn't this payola?
musicpromo.bid is advertising placement, clearly labeled as such on every page - payola laws concern undisclosed pay-for-airplay on broadcast radio. Here the payment is the entire, publicly displayed point: the chart is explicitly ranked by promotional spend and nothing else.
